Complete beginners
For anyone who wants to learn film photography and the full workflow from the ground up.
From film to finished image. Develop, scan, digitise, edit and print - hands-on in a Berlin studio.
A hands-on workshop for beginners, experienced photographers and professionals who want to understand analogue photography and combine it intelligently with a modern digital workflow.
Many people shoot film but then hand the entire process over to a lab. Others develop their own film but are unsure how to digitise negatives at high quality or bring them into Lightroom and Negative Lab Pro effectively.
At the same time, many digital photographers are curious about analogue processes but do not know where to begin in practice.
This workshop connects both worlds - from exposed film to a finished digital image or darkroom print.
The core workshop focuses primarily on black-and-white. The key is not one isolated step, but understanding the complete chain.
Under guidance, participants carry out as many steps as possible themselves. The exact stages depend on duration, group size and the chosen focus.
Your own film camera is useful but not required. WE Studio can provide the necessary equipment and materials.
For anyone who wants to learn film photography and the full workflow from the ground up.
For photographers who currently outsource developing or scanning and want more control over the process.
For photographers who want to integrate film, development and darkroom work into an existing digital workflow.
For focused work on development, camera scanning, copy stand technique, Negative Lab Pro or printing.
For individual priorities, your own pace and specific questions about your personal workflow.
Custom workshops for small teams or groups are available by arrangement.
Analogue and digital are not opposites today. A photograph made on film does not have to end in a purely analogue process, and a digital workflow can be meaningfully extended through film, development and darkroom work.
A key focus is high-quality camera scanning at the copy stand and further processing with Negative Lab Pro. This makes it clear where analogue image-making and modern digital tools work well together.
The workshop takes place at The Chocolate Factory in Berlin-Tempelhof - a real studio and workshop environment that can be fully blacked out.
Black-and-white development is central to the core workshop. C-41 and E-6 are technically possible as well and are better suited to later or advanced formats.
Flatbed scanning is available. Access to a Flextight can also be possible depending on availability.
A copy stand, macro lens and a high-resolution digital camera of around 60 megapixels enable a modern scanning workflow.
Conversion and further processing of camera scans as an important part of the hybrid workflow.
Enlargements and prints comfortably up to 4×5 inch; 8×10 inch is possible in principle but is more of a specialist topic.
The necessary equipment and materials can generally be provided. You are of course welcome to bring your own camera or film.
Richárd is 26 and has worked intensively with analogue photography for around five years. His focus is the modern hybrid workflow: film development, camera scanning, copy stand work, high-resolution digital cameras, macro optics and Negative Lab Pro.
The wider WE Studio environment also offers access to more than 40 years of photographic experience. That experience is available in the background for advice; the workshop itself is clearly led by Richárd.
A real studio and workshop environment with space for small intensive groups and, when needed, larger groups. The room can be fully blacked out for darkroom work.

More individual time and more hands-on stages for each participant.
Individual workflow, your own pace and targeted topics by arrangement.
The final price depends on group size, duration and the requested scope. Necessary equipment and materials are generally provided.
